After his last performance with A Tribe Called Quest, Q-Tip is taking the group's story to the small screen. The talented rapper-producer is working on a hip-hop drama series about the group's musical movement for TV.

Deadline reports that the show will be inspired by the Native Tongues collective. A Tribe Called Quest was a part of this movement, as was De La Soul and Black Sheep, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The show is said to feature the backstories of the artists and their friendships.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are also a part of the project. DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way, is releasing the show and the team is taking the idea to TV networks next week.

Tip and 'The Wolf of Wall Street' actor have been friends for some time, so the collaboration is not surprising. In 2008, the Los Angeles Times put together a timeline of their "bromance," which began in 1994, when the rapper befriended DiCaprio and fellow actor Tobey Maguire.
