Operation Hang Up Around Albany This Week

Operation Hang Up is in full effect starting… NOW! The last patrol for drivers using cell phones racked up over 800 tickets and fines. So no matter how “good” you are at texting while driving, you might want to use this week as an opportunity to break your habit.

The operation stems from a new law signed by the Governor last July which strengthened enforcement of texting while driving. The current campaign is funded through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Violations could result in 3 points on your license (defensive driving, here we come!).

It’s tempting – you get a booty call text from your shawtie, it’s your move in words with friends, you get an alert from facebook saying you got a picture comment, etc. Wait it out. It’ll cost you a lot lest in the future to reply when you’re not behind the wheel.
