Ashanti might be reuniting in the studio with long-time collaborator, Ja Rule! Now that Ja is out of prison, he’s anxious to get back in the game. Ashanti shared details about a recent phone conversation she had with the all-mighty RULE.

“I spoke to him the other day and I’m super, super excited for him,” she said in an interview with NYC’s Hot 97. “He’s in great spirits. He has a studio downstairs in the house. That’s where he’s gonna be all the time. He’s super excited about the music. Hopefully we get it all poppin’. It’s no denying our chemistry. I mean, he has to focus on his stuff right now and I gotta focus on mine.”

The two teamed up on Mesmerize in 2003, which peaked at number two on the Billboard HOT 100.  Their 2001 collaboration, Always On Time, topped the charts.

She also spoke about playing her upcoming album, BraveHeart for Ja. “Me and Ja’s gonna Skype. That’s what I’ll do and I’ll play him some records.”

Collaborations scheduled for the album include rappers French Montana, Meek Mill and producers Detail and Cool & Dre. Go cop it on July 30th when it hits shelves.
