Offset Says Lyor Cohen Blocked Release of Migos and Young Thug Project

On the heels of releasing their YRN2 mixtape, Offset of Migos revealed the reason why the group has yet to release an additional project, their long-awaited collaboration with Young Thug. Offset spoke with VladTV about the continued delays on MigoThuggin which was announced back in Oct. of 2015 with a Halloween release date expected. As the recently freed rapper says, 300 Entertainment boss Lyor Cohen has put the project on ice.

"Lyor froze it, man," Offset said. "We couldn't, we can't do it right now... That was gonna be a big project, too, but Lyor blocked the play. He ain't with it. He ain't stamp it. So we couldn't go through with it."

Offset also said that the group has about 30 songs recorded with Young Thug, who did in fact drop a mixtape on Halloween, the solo effort Slime Season 2.

The news of Lyor's intervention suggests that all is not well with Migos and 300 Entertainment, the label the group signed to back in June of 2014 for distribution. Offset said that the group is attempting to break away from 300, with their legal team presently sorting out the particulars. "Litigators, they gotta work they're move," the rapper said. "It's getting handled. Got some little litigators handling the business."

Migos and Young Thug had previously released two tracks together, "Crime Stoppers" in December and "1017" back in June of 2014. If the crew have that many tracks recorded, it's curious why Cohen would halt the project, but as of now, there's no real explanation behind the move. Watch the video blow for Offset's full interview.
