We told you earlier this week about the growth of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports management company. New York Yankee second baseman, Robinson Cano, was the first ball player to sign a deal with the Roc. A more recent addition was WNBA baller, Skylar Diggins. Jay showed his appreciation and support for Skylar by gifting her with a brand new Mercedes Benz as a graduation gift. The newest member of Jay-Z’s growing empire is New York Jets rookie, Geno Smith.

Smith was drafted this year in the second round out of West Virginia University. Geno will automatically be in contention for a starting job this year. That bum, Mark Sanchez, is his main competition on the depth chart.

XXLMag.com released Geno’s statement about the signing. “When you talk about being in New York from a standpoint of what they can do in the city, the connections that they have, I think it’s a good move. My mother and my family is comfortable with it, I’m comfortable with it. I’m just going to move on from there, not let it be a big deal, remain humble and keep focusing on football.”

Jay had to relinquish his shares as part owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets in order to launch his sports management endeavor. So far the decision seems to be working out. The company hasn’t been established for 2 whole months yet and they already have some high profile talents locked in.
