Things go from bad to worse for Meek Mill. The MMG rapper was slapped with a three to six month jail sentence for a probation violation earlier this month, and although music industry insider Karen Civil suggested that he will serve only three to four weeks of that sentence, it looks like the Philly rapper will remain behind bars until at least September.

According to Philly.com, Meek's lawyers filed a petition last Thursday (July 17) asking for an immediate hearing within three days in an effort to free the rapper, who has been in jail since July 11. However, Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley denied the request, saying her court schedule would not allow her to hold such a hearing until September.

She also rejected a request to allow another judge to hear the case.

"All I'm asking for is a hearing to learn why [his jailing] is constitutional and they won't even give me that," said Meek's defense attorney Christopher Warren. Today he plans to file "a writ of mandamus," an order asking a higher court to compel Judge Brinkley to hold an emergency hearing.

Meek Mill's sophomore album, 'Dreams Worth More Than Money,' was recently scheduled for a Sept. 9 release. Although MMG boss Rick Ross has promised to "execute Meek’s plan as close to schedule as possible," fans may have to wait longer due to these legal complications.
