MC Hammer's time as being one of the biggest rappers in the world has come and gone but the "U Can't Touch This" MC has added a new wrinkle to his career as a food judge. In this week's episode of Bravo's Top Chef, the cooks descended upon Hammer's hometown of Oakland, California and were hyped when the man responsible for parachute pants becoming fashionable showed up on set as a celebrity judge.

Upon discovering the judge, the chefs were visibly excited and during the interview portion they talked about their memories of the rapper and how he introduced some of them to hip-hop. Sticking with the theme, each contestant came up with their own rap alias and a few even mustered up the courage to bust a rhyme in front of the former chart-topper before cooking him up a dish. Check out a preview above and the full episode on Bravo's site.

Hammer has been out of the limelight for quite some time now but the rapper's influence is still felt in today's landscape. During the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Bruno Mars paid tribute to the West Coast rapper with all-black leather outfits and thick rope chains and dance moves that mirrored the ones seen in his "U Can't Touch This" video.

After watching the performance, Hammer took to Twitter to show his love and appreciation for the tribute. "Salute Bruno Mars," he tweeted. "That was excellent! Y'all did that. Appreciate the Love."

Perhaps 2016 will mark Hammer's comeback tour.
