Although Lil Wayne hasn’t put out any new music lately, he’s certainly pursuing other endeavors. The rap veteran recently announced that he has signed LSU linebacker Duke Riley who will be entering the NFL Draft in June.

For the past four years, Riley has been a star player with the Bayou Bengals team. In his final senior year, he secured a 29-9 win over Louisville in the Citrus Bowl where he wore the No. 4 on his jersey in honor of his fallen mentor Joe McKnight who was shot and killed during a road rage altercation.

The partnership makes sense for Weezy and Riley since they are both Louisiana natives. Last year, Wayne signed former Florida State star Reggie Northrup to his YMS roster.

In an interview with Bleacher Report, Wayne explained why he launched Young Money Sports. "We all cut from the same cloth, and it’s just that simple," he said. "We all from the same type of place, and we all like the same type of things. We all wish we were athletes. They all wish they were rappers."

"Honestly, it was something that almost felt like it was something I was supposed to do," he continued. "I also understood that you can actually help these people, these athletes, you can help off them off the field or off the court. Once I figured that out, that’s what I wanted to do."

It will be interesting to see what Tunechi and his team can accomplish with Riley following the NFL Draft. We want to wish both Lil Wayne and Riley the best of luck with their partnership.
