Ms. Lauryn Hill was alleged to have been planning to make a surprise appearance at the 58th Grammy Awards last night, but the star never took the stage. After claims hit the Web that she was to perform alongside The Weeknd, fans began buzzing about the possibility of Ms. Hill appearing at music's biggest awards show.

But The Weeknd's performance came and went without a Lauryn sighting. After fans expressed disappointment via social media, the issue was addressed.

The singer's rep issued a statement explaining that the timing of the performance made it difficult to pull off due to the former Fugee's schedule but also added that Ms. Hill never committed to appearing at the show.

"The Grammy's announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval. Ms. Hill had concerts all weekend, leaving no time to prepare, and was uncertain she would even be able to make it to LA in time to rehearse for the event.

"Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such," the statement read. "Ms. Hill was invited to do a collaboration with an artist she appreciates. The performance was intended to be a surprise and unfortunately due to its last minute nature, was unable to come to fruition.”

Of course, Lauryn Hill wasn't the only no-show at the Grammys last night. A highly-touted Rihanna performance never happened after the singer was forced to cancel her appearance due to a bout of bronchitis.
