In a preview of Jada Pinkett Smith's new Red Table Talk interview series, Kid Cudi is the latest guest to take the hot seat. In the 40-second preview clip posted today (Dec. 13), Cudi admits being ashamed to discuss his mental health with others.

"I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden... even from my friends," Cudi says to the show's hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield-Jones and Willow Smith. "I really was good with that. And it's scary because you hear people say, 'I had no clue.' I really went out of my way to keep what I was going through hidden because I was ashamed."

Back in October of 2016, Cudi checked into a rehab facility for treatment of "depression and suicidal urges." In a heartfelt letter, Cudi revealed that he was swimming in a pool of emotions and didn't feel at peace.

"I am not at peace," he wrote in the open letter. "I haven't been since you've known me. If I didn't come here, I would've done something to myself. I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions every day of my life. There's a raging violent storm inside of my heart at all times. Idk what peace feels like. Idk how to relax. My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I can't make new friends because of it. I don't trust anyone because of it and I'm tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace."

On a brighter note, the 34-year-old rapper has had a great year. Back in June, Cudi teamed up with Kanye West for the release of their collaborative album Kids See Ghosts. Last month, Cudi put on a memorable performance alongside Ye at Tyler, the Creator's 2018 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival. In addition to performing their tracks off their joint album, Cudi also performed his solo hit "Pursuit of Happiness."
