Kendrick Lamar can now call himself a platinum-selling artist. The Compton lyricist received good news that his single 'Swimming Pools (Drank)' has been certified platinum for moving 1 million copies in the U.S.

The rapper's first platinum achievement follows the success of his major label debut LP, 'good kid, m.A.A.D. city,' which earned a gold plaque in December for selling 500,000 units in the U.S.

'Swimming Pools' is among the many standout tracks on the celebrated album. The accompanying video has garnered over 26 million views on YouTube so far.

Meanwhile, K.Dot is getting ready for his debut performance on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' this weekend. The 25-year-old rap superstar will rock the stage while Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine will handle hosting duties.

However, Lamar hopes to join in on the fun and act in a comedy sketch or two. "Yeah, I'll do a skit. We clown around in the studio all day; I can do it on TV in front of the camera," he told MTV News. "Put me in one of those skits 'SNL'! Wassup?"

It wouldn't be too far of a stretch to plant him in a skit. Plenty of musicians have appeared in comedy sketches either skewering themselves or other artists. We are glad to see that Lamar has a funny bone inside of him.

"'SNL,' that's a whole 'nother world, especially for a new artist in hip-hop. I'm blessed," K.Dot says of the opportunity to perform on the historic show. "I'm fortunate to not only have the urban culture to be looking at my music, but just everybody around the world to feel the same way about it. And I just really appreciate everybody taking the time out to listen."

You can catch Kendrick Lamar performing on 'Saturday Night Live' this weekend at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
