Kendrick Lamar Painting to Hang in U.S. Capitol
Kendrick Lamar is headed to the U.S. Capitol. Well, not exactly, but a painting of him is. Yesterday (May 16), Colorado Congressman Scott Tipton unveiled Tiona Cordova of Pueblo, Colo.'s Centennial High School student as the winner of the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Her winning piece? A painting of K. Dot himself.
As her reward, Cordova will be recognized in a Washington, D.C. awards ceremony and her striking Kendrick painting will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Shout-out to Tiona! You don't have to have seen the other contest entries to see how dope her painting actually is.
Of course, this is also a win for K. Dot, who's been piling them up lately. A few weeks back, his universally acclaimed DAMN. album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, selling over 600,000 album equivalent units in its first week. It went platinum in under a month.
So with that in mind, K. Dot having his painting in the U.S. Capitol is just another dope addition to what's been a very successful 2017. Peep the painting for yourself below. We bet K. Dot would love it.
