One of Kanye West's most popular songs is at the center of a new copyright/RICO lawsuit over the continued use of a 1974 sample.

According to AllHipHop.com, Yeezy and several labels are being sued by Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, who claim that the 1974 song 'Bumpin' Bus Stop' by their late father, David Pryor, was unlawfully sampled on 'Gold Digger' -- the song sits on West's 'Late Registration' LP.

Mr. Pryor was a member of the music group Thunder & Lightning, who recorded the song before he died in May 2006. His kids claim that West sampled a 13-second soundbite of the tune, in which their dad yells, "get down" three times in an echo during the rapper's chorus of "Get down girl, go 'head, get down."

The reason the lawsuit is under a RICO stature is because the plaintiffs believed West and various record labels engaged in a 15-year "illegal copyright infringement scheme and criminal enterprise involving the unauthorized, willful sampling of plaintiffs original copyrighted music on a massive scale."

Also named in the suit are record labels Roc-a-Fella Records, Bomb Hip-Hop Records, Caroline Distribution, Autumn Games, Activision, Bad Boy Records, Stones Throw Records and The Island Def Jam Music Group.

It's safe to say that this is one helluva lawsuit that could have major repercussions in the music industry. 'Ye better dig up a strong defense in this case.

Kanye West's attorney had no comment on the matter.
