July’s ‘Hometown Hero’ Simply Doing What She Loves (Audio)
Food festivals, country music concerts, and saving people's lives (not necessarily in that order) aren't exactly everyone's top 3 things they make time for in their lives. But for one local young woman, she feels she was put here to do just that and she's pretty amazing. However, food and music often get put on the back burner when it comes to rushing to a scene to help people. Such is the case when you're a paramedic in a small town. This is the life of Adrienne Hamilton from Cambridge and why she was an easy choice to be July's Hometown Hero. We recognized it and her colleagues and fellow neighbors recognized it as well. Adrienne though, was quite taken aback by the honor.
July's WGNA Hometown Hero wears many hats in the Town of Cambridge. She's a paramedic (paid and volunteer), she does specialty training, and is just an all-around cheerleader and mentor for anyone she meets in her community. When I called Adrienne to inform her that she was this month's Hometown Hero she seemed surprised but incredibly grateful for the recognition. Her humility was apparent right off the bat. She's just doing what she loves and doing what she was put here to do.
The mark of a true hero.
