Is singer John Legend saying goodbye to his singing career? Since landing a gig on Fox’s hit show ‘Duets,’ the nine-time Grammy winner has seemingly focused his talents on the broadcasting side of things. And now, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Legend has signed a deal with Universal Cable Productions to develop a number of projects.

He, along with his Get Lifted Film Co. partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorious, will work with Universal Cable Productions senior VP’s Richard Rothstein, Chris Sanagustin and Maira Suroto to create a number of series for cable and broadcast networks. The three VP’s oversee developments for USA Network, SyFy Channel, and all external networks.

“We’re thrilled to have the creative talents of John, Mike and Ty to help us in our efforts to create imaginative and signature television,” said VP’s Rothstein, Sanagustin and Suroto in a joint statement. “Already, they’ve proven their passion and commitment to TV by bringing unique talent to the studio. We look forward to a fun and productive partnership.”

Fans shouldn’t be too concerned, though. Legend will step back into his singing shoes when he heads out on tour this fall, but that doesn’t negate his excitement over his new deal. Ty, Mike and I are really excited about working with Maira, Richard and Chris and the entire UCP family as we take this next step forward in building Get Lifted,” he said in a statement. “I believe we can do something really special.”
