John Legend Finds Last Minute Replacement In Meleana Brown, Performing ‘Endless Love’ on ABC’s ‘Duets’

In the beginning of the second hour of tonight’s episode of ‘Duets’ John Legend had to replace his former contestant Johnny Gray due to unknown circumstances. Legend then held rapid-fire auditions for hundreds of people and after a tough decision he narrowed it down to two people and gave them a song to learn to perform the next day. Hawaiian beauty Meleana Brown ended up being the lucky winner and performed ‘Endless Love’ tonight with Legend.

Legend started out the performance, singing and playing the piano. Brown looked stunning in a silver gown, and their voices complimented each other enchantingly.  Brown commanded the stage giving a confident and engaging performance.

Host Quddus asked her afterward what it was like to sing with Legend. In turn, Brown replied that she could not put it into words because it felt like a dream come true. The judges were blown away, with Jennifer Nettles calling Brown “incredibly classy and fabulous.”  Robin Thicke then compared Brown to the perfect sandwich and welcomed her to the show. Kelly Clarkson loved the performance as well but suggested that she needed more soul, because heart is more important than having a perfect technique.

The newcomer then swept away the competition, rushing straight to the top of the charts on her very first night!
