Jay-Z and Kanye West won the Video of the Year honor for their patrotic video ‘Otis’ at the 2012 BET Awards on Sunday (July 1) in Los Angeles.

Hov seemed a little tongue tied upon accepting his star trophy with his pal Yeezy. “I happy to push the culture, thanks to BET, Steven Hill,” he said before passing the mic to West.

In a rare comedic moment, West was reminded of his Taylor Swift fiasco when he crashed the stage during her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards. As West was set to give his acceptance speech, Jay-Z interrupted him. “Excuse Kanye, I’m going to let you continue, but …,” he joked.

After a moment of hilarity, West was allowed to continue. “Thank you to BET for allowing us to all push the envelope,” he said during his speech. “We put in a lot work a lot of hours, a lot of sleepless nights [and] we don’t take it lightly, it’s like being a new artist.”

“We love y’all and we don’t take it for granted the opportunity y’all have given to us,” he continued. “I want to thank BET because I never do that. I love y’all, thank you BET.”

Earlier in the night, Jay-Z and Kanye West previously won the Best Group trophy as The Throne. West also performed ‘Cold’ with his G.O.O.D. Music team to kick off the BET Awards ceremony.
