Should gentrification happen in the Capital District? Some would say it's already happening.

From the Wellington Annex demolition in Albany to the downtown Schenectady improvement, some would say the attempts to beautify once blighted urban downtown areas is a good thing.

Of course, where I'm from, Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, gentrification has been happening for a number of years, much to the chagrin of fellow Bed-Stuyer Spike Lee, who offered his thoughts recently.

Maybe after seeing the gentrification rap from TruTV's new sketch comedy show "Friends of the People" starting October 28, he'd change his tune.

Or maybe not. It is Spike Lee, after all.
