Hip-hop albums in 2013 catered to every kind of fan. From trap music to indie rap to conscious lyrics to the underground set, no one was left without something to listen to and enjoy. As the 1st Annual The Boombox Fan Choice Awards get underway, the Hip-Hop Album of the Year competition is replete with artists from the old school and the new.

Kanye West's 'Yeezus' was one of the most talked about records last year -- you either loved it or hated it -- while Jay Z's 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' proved the rapper was still at the top of his game with songs like 'Tom Ford' and 'Picasso Baby.'

Newer artists like Danny Brown with his third LP 'Old' -- full of druggy tales and narratives centered on his upbringing -- and Earl Sweatshirt's more personal debut 'Doris' impressed with their respective sounds.

A$AP Ferg ('Trap Lord'), French Montana ('Excuse My French') and Pusha T ('My Name Is My Name') gave the streets some much needed bangers while still serving the club-loving set.

Drake's 'Nothing Was the Same' was a fan favorite for many with unforgettable tracks like 'Worst Behavior' and 'Hold On We're Going Home,' Mac Miller repped for the indie crowd while crafting a solid opus and Run the Jewels delivered that good ol' boom bap with their self-titled effort.
