People in the Albany area were understandably curious as to why there were low-flying State Police helicopters circling the Maxwell and Albany Shaker Road areas this morning. Turns out they were searching for a woman who was reported missing yesterday morning.

A 70-year-old woman from Iowa, Beverly Coss, was reportedly in the area for disaster relief work. She was last seen at Colonie Town Library at 9am yesterday morning and authorities were alerted when her car was still in the parking lot at 9pm.

A note was found inside Coss’s vehicle addressed to police. The note indicated she was dejected, depressed and a possible danger to herself.

She stands at 5’5’’, weighs 140 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information about the woman’s location should contact Colonie Police immediately – (518) 783-2744.
