Guilderland’s Welfare Queen [VIDEO]

When you think of someone cheating welfare, you think of someone with a whole bunch of kids using drugs and running a fraud on the system. Wrong.

Sometimes the scammer is the person right next door. Meet 38-year-old Amanda Dray, who works for the Schenectady City School systems and is being called the "Guilderland Welfare Queen." Dray is being charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud, and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

Investigators say Dray was fraudulently collecting DSS benefits since March of 2013 after failing to report her income from her employment by the Schenectady City School District. Dray is also accused of failing to report to the Department of Social Services the income of her children's father whom she resides with, according to investigators.

The Sheriff's office says that the total amount of benefits Dray fraudulently received was $31,448.

I hope these allegations aren't true but they had to have some kind of evidence to charge her with this type of fraud. Nice to see where our tax dollars are going.
