The national nightmare continues as recent reports that Gucci Mane will be released from prison in March of this year been refuted.

On Jan. 4, Gucci's 1017 Records made the announcement on Instagram that the incarcerated MC would be free in March. But in another Instagram post from January 9, the label went back on the claim writing, "So Gucci Mane NOT release [sic] on march [sic]" followed by #Fuck12 and #FreeGucci."

No word at the moment on what prompted the change. Revolt TV's Jayson Rodriguez confirmed that the trendsetting rapper's release date is still scheduled for 2017 (he clarified in a subsequent tweet that he meant "Indiana" instead of "India").

On Jan. 3, Gucci Mane mysteriously and without explanation deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts, just a few days after his team used social media to tease his possible 2016 release. Sean Paine, the rapper's right-hand man, told Pigeons and Planes that he got rid of the accounts because he "wants to wait until he gets out to build anticipation and resurface everything under the new Gucci brand." The social media accounts are still on ice as of press time.

The "Lemonade" rapper's extended incarceration certainly hasn't stopped his output of music. During the holiday season, he dropped East Atlanta Santa 2. Even though he's behind bars, Gucci hasn't lost touch with the streets and enlisted a who's-who of trendy rappers such as Post Malone, 21 Savage, Lil B, Waka Flocka Flame, Vic Mensa and more for the project.
