#Free21 Savage Petition Gets Over 125,000 Signatures in 24 Hours

A petition to stop 21 Savage's deportation after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested him has garnered over half of its intended goal of 200,000 signatures in only about 24 hours. It's now at 128,753 signatures and counting.

The petition was started by Black Lives Matter activist Patrisse Khan-Cullors the day after 21 was detained on Sunday (Feb. 4). The petition calls for ICE to halt the deportation of She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph aka 21 Savage, a rap superstar whom ICE says became an illegal immigrant after his family's work visas expired in 2006. Kei Henderson, who acts as one of 21's managers, promoted the petition on her Instagram account.

"There are around 4.2 Million Black immigrants in the U.S. - 619,000 are undocumented," Henderson said in her Instagram caption, which echoes the sentiments Khan-Cullors shared in her petition description. "Savage has been in Atlanta since he was a young child. He is the father of 3 beautiful kids. And active in their daily lives. Stop family separation and sign the petition to stop the Deportation 🙏🏾🗡 Link in Bio | #Free21Savage."

21's family, friends and management want the petition to get up to 200,000 signatures. As we mentioned up top, they aren't too far from their goal. So far, Future, PeeWee Longway and other rappers have signed the petition. You can bet many more will also join the cause.

Since his arrest, rappers everywhere have been coming to 21's defense. Before 21's U.K. birth certificate surfaced yesterday, conservative political pundit Tomi Lahren made fun of the rapper's immigration situation by transforming his "Bank Account" chorus into a joke. Rappers like Cardi B, Wale and Nicki Minaj all stepped up to denounce the joke and any others like it.
