Freddy E. Dead of Apparent Suicide, Honey Cocaine Addresses Relationship With Rapper

Up-and-coming Seattle rapper Freddy E. committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot Saturday (Jan. 5), according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office. He was 22 years old.

The 22-year-old young rhymer was apparently upset over a failed relationship with Tyga's rap artist Honey Cocaine. Freddy E. posted several distraught tweets on Twitter before he took his life. "If there's a God then He's calling me back home. This barrel never felt so good next to my dome. It's cold & I'd rather die than live alone," he tweeted.

Upon news of his death, many people on the social networking site were accusing Honey Cocaine of leading him to suicide. She went on Twitter to set the record straight. "Our convo last night.. We talked all the time, I'd never hurt him.. I always had him," she wrote. "People think they have an idea but it's not your business.. RIP my angel, my condolences."

Freddy E.'s father, Fredrick Douglass Buhl, posted a message on Facebook in memory of his son. "Not only our family, but the world has lost a talented, sensitive, brilliant young man who lit up our existence with his," he wrote.

The rising emcee was also a comedian who gained popularity through his observational videos on his YouTube channel Jerk TV.

His tragic death comes just two weeks after the untimely death of Pro Era member Capital STEEZ, who committed suicide on Christmas Eve.

With these two untimely deaths, it's time to have a real conversation about the issue of youth suicide in the black community. While the topic is an unpleasant one, more discussions about suicide prevention and seeking help need to take place. Hopefully, the deaths of Freddy E. and Capital STEEZ will raise awareness about this problematic issue.
