Frank Ocean has a surprise for his fans: He released ‘Channel Orange’ a week earlier than the slated July 17 debut.

The Rap-Up reports that Ocean revealed the news during a taping of ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.’ Fallon hinted that the singer had big news, but it was fans and audience members who leaked that news to the press — via Twitter — that ‘Channel Orange’ would be available for download at 12:30 AM ET on July 10.

Ocean’s manager, Kelly Clancy, actually teased the news first, tweeting, “i wouldn’t miss frank ocean on fallon tonight…trust me… ‪#channelorange‬.” But an audience member spilled the beans completely: “Am I allowed to say? Frank Ocean’s album is out TONIGHT on iTunes, at 12:30 AM when Fallon airs. Smart move,” wrote one fan.

Ocean will perform ‘Bad Religion’ with the Roots on Fallon’s talk show, a track that initially raised eyebrows and questions about the singer’s sexual orientation. Coming out as bisexual looks like it has only opened more doors for the Odd Future singer, and the exposure, combined with an early album release, will likely bolster sales. Kudos to you, Mr. Ocean!
