The Empire State Plaza Ice Rink is officially open! The rink is open every day 11am-8pm. Skating is free every day. The only cost you’ll have to plan for are skate rentals if you don’t own a pair. Rentals are free on Fridays and cost $3 for children under 12, $4 for adults every other day.

New York State OGS Commissioner released the following statement via press release:

“The skating rink belongs to the people of New York and is a good example of what Governor Cuomo means when he talks about how important it is that government and the community work together. We hope that everyone will come down for some fresh air and fun at Empire Skate Plaza, one of the region’s most popular winter family-fun spots.”

Skating isn’t the only attraction at the Plaza rink. Friday evenings will also feature family-friendly entertainment, including live music. Don’t know how to skate? Why not learn?! As you’ll see in the special events listed below, a free skate clinic will be held this Sunday, December 2nd.

12/2 – 1pm-6pm – NYS Holiday Tree Lighting and Fireworks Festival.

12/7 – 6pm-8pm – Chris Dukes performs live.

12/14 – 6pm-8pm – Live music with 3 Minute Pop

Free learn-to-skate clinics (pre-register at ogs.ny.gov):

12/2 – 2pm-4pm

1/5 – 2pm-4pm
