Drake’s ‘Views’ Knocked Off No. 1 Billboard Spot After Nine Weeks

Nothing in this world is truly permanent, and as Drake is experiencing, all good things, chart-topping runs included, must come to an end. Views, Drizzy's latest, may have sounded uninspired to some, but it sure moved an inspiring number of units, occupying the top spot on Billboards Album 200 chart for nine consecutive weeks. That run has ended though, as Blink 182's California has seized the No. 1 position, moving 186,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 7.

Views, which only falls one spot with 117,000 equivalent units sold, was a tour de force for Drake, registering the third longest run at No. 1 for any hip-hop album, behind Vanilla Ice's To the Extreme and M.C. Hammer's Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em, which logged 16 and 21 weeks atop the album charts respectively. The Keeper of the 6 also joined Micheal Jackson to become only the second male artist to top the album and song charts for seven consecutive weeks.

Thanks in large part to singles "Hotline Bling" and "One Dance," Views and the songs on it have amassed a staggering number of streams, contributing to the album's current double platinum status. What makes the chart-topping feats all the more impressive is the fact that, before "One Dance," Drake had never had a song hit No. 1. Back in May, Drake songs accounted for 20 of the Hot 100 songs, with his contributions on Rihanna's "Work" landing him two within the top ten.
