Drake Drops New Songs ‘6 God,’ ‘Heat of the Moment’ & ‘How Bout Now’
A day after celebrating his 28th birthday, Drake gifts fans a wonderful present -- new music! The Toronto rapper delivered three new songs: '6 God,' 'Heat of the Moment' and the previously leaked track, 'How 'Bout Now.'
The music comes with an interesting cover art of prayer hands. This could either mean that Drake is on a spiritual crusade or he's signaling his competitors to start praying before he drops his next full-length album.
As for the songs here's the rundown. '6 God,' which is produced by Boi-1da and Syk Sense, is a stirring club banger with Drake spitting braggadocious lyrics to his naysayers.
"I give a f--- about old boy / I give a f--- about his squad boy / I give a f--- about your mob boy / I'm the real 6 God boy," he raps. He then adds, "Yeah, my sound got the whole city a way right now / So I don't give a f--- about what anybody sayin' right now."
On 'Heat of the Moment,' which is produced by Noah "40" Shebib, Drake is in lovey-dovey mode as he seduces a woman that catches his eye. Interestingly, the woman he seems to be pining for sounds like Nicki Minaj on the track. Things that make you go hmmm?
"Wish we had met when I was in my teens / Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes Lord," sings Drizzy. "Cause these days I only know conditional love / I’m not used to settling down / I’m too used to switching it up, oh."
Finally, by now you've heard 'How Bout Now.' The Boi-1da and Jordan Evans-produced song gets a proper mix and more instrumentation at the end. The bouncy tune also features a sample of the classic Jodeci ballad ‘My Heart Belongs to You.’
Overall, the three songs show that Drake is in a creative space right now. You could also say that these are the appetizers before the main course, which is his new album, 'Views From The 6.' The collection is scheduled for release in 2015.
