Do You Think Welfare Recipients Should Be Drug Tested?
Everybody's favorite President Donald Trump strikes again. This time he is aiming at poor people with a plan to require "certain" food stamp recipients to undergo drug testing. This has been a conservative talking point for quite some time because everyone knows that all of the people receiving food stamps are on drugs.
The Trump administration is considering a plan that would allow states to require certain food stamp recipients to undergo drug testing, handing a win to conservatives who've long sought ways to curb the safety net program.
The proposal under review would be narrowly targeted, applying mostly to people who are able-bodied, without dependents and applying for some specialized jobs, according to an administration official briefed on the plan. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said roughly 5 percent of participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program could be affected.
If you didn't catch my sarcasm in the earlier paragraph, let me break it down for you. This will never happen in a million years because it is STUPID! Eating is not a luxury it is a requirement, to live. By any means necessary, human beings will find a way to eat. Whether that means eating food from a trash can or committing a crime in order to get the money for food. This is an attempt to rile up Donald Trump's fan base with one of their most popular causes, welfare reform. This has been played out in politics since the 60's.
If people were denied food in masses it would produce so many ill effects. America has a huge drug problem, there is no way of getting a realistic number on how many people use illegal drugs in the U.S.
The wording of the plan alone tells you that this is a joke and there is no real plan.
The proposal under review would be narrowly targeted, applying mostly to people who are able-bodied, without dependents and applying for some specialized jobs
What does that mean? Isn't this discriminatory? Why can a person get high if you have kids? There are so many loopholes in that statement alone. I don't even think this is "Real News" because of the fact it is so vague and the plan comes from an anonymous source.
I'm not for this plan because this is an attempt to appease Donald Trump's fan base and there is no feasible way to execute a plan like this in the United States without seriously disrupting society.
