The annoying prank "swatting" has claimed a new victim -- Diddy. The rap mogul's $5 million home was invaded by police Wednesday (April 3) after an unidentified person called 911 to report an assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the Los Angeles Times, several patrol cars rushed to the Toluca Lake, Calif. residence shortly after 11 a.m. PT. Police thoroughly search the home and discovered zilch. Diddy wasn't even home at the time of the late-morning raid.

Fellow celeb Chris Brown was also a victim of this annoying prank. Back in January, police were called to Breezy's crib after someone made a false 911 call stating that someone was shot inside the home. When authorities arrived at the residence, they found nothing but Breezy's staff, who were startled by the intrusion.

For those who are unfamiliar with "swatting," it's a mischievous stunt that begins with an anonymous person (aka "the swattter") calling 911 to report a fake crime with the hopes of getting a SWAT team involved. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Tom Cruise and Justin Bieber have been victims of this prank as well.

The alarming increase in fake 911 calls related to swatting have California lawmakers now thinking of implementing harsher penalties for such crimes. LAPD spokesperson Lt. Andy Neiman said the department will pursue criminal charges against those responsible for the Diddy calling prank.
