Prior to this approval, the Common Core standard stirred up a large amount of controversy and was strongly disliked by many parents and teachers due to its rigidity and lack of concern for students of different backgrounds. The new standard, which is now called the Next Generation Learning Standards, is designed to accommodate students of different languages and learning abilities. This new standard will also implement more learning strategies to stimulate student’s creativity and curiosity. Are you a parent of a young scholar? What do you think about this new standard?
