After a long hiatus, Ciara returned to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to talk about her failed relationship with Future, son Future, Jr., and upcoming album, Jackie.

The R&B songbird was disappointed that Charlamagne Tha God wasn’t around to grill her with any questions. In the past, Charlamagne has been critical of her choices both in her relationship and career. In his absence, he did try and send in some questions but Ciara refused to answer them, instead wanting him to address her in person.

The conversation quickly jumped into Ciara’s failed relationship with Future. Although their partnership didn’t work out, the “I Bet” singer said that she received something precious from the experience. “I have the greatest gift, the greatest joy of my life is my son [Future Jr.],” she said. “Honestly, I feel like everything in life happens for a reason and my son has been the greatest gift that God has given me in my life and been the most game-changing thing that's happened to my life, in a necessary way."

Ciara maintains that she is cool with Future and that her son gets along with the rapper’s other four children.

"We don't talk every day, there's no need to. But my son is clearly the connection between he and I and as parents I think it's important to be able to communicate,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Ciara discussed her new album, Jackie, describing it as a new chapter in her life. “It’s just a whole new thing happening with me and what better way to express it than through music,” the songbird stated.

When asked about Jermaine Dupri claiming that her song “I Bet” is a clone of Usher’s “U Got It Bad,” CiCi shrugged it off as JD expressing his own opinion.

The 29-year-old entertainer also addressed the rumor that she has beef with Rihanna. While the two haven’t really gone after each other lately on social media, Ciara insists that she has no problem with RiRi. “I’ve always been a fan of her work. I’m happy for her. I’ve always said that,” she admitted. “In reference to what happened, I still can’t tell you what and why to this day.”

In the end, Ciara is about her business. Her album, Jackie, which refers to her mother’s name, will hit stores on May 4, a day before her mom’s birthday.

“I’m really proud of this album,” Ciara declared.
