Childish Gambino dropped by The Tonight Show last night (Dec. 13) to deliver a funk-drenched performance of his Bootsy Collins-inspired song, "Redbone" from his stellar album, Awaken My Love! which dropped early this month and has since skyrocketed to the top of critic's year-end list. Heavily influenced by Parliament-Funkadelic and Sly Stone, the album is alive with ambition and soul, making it one of the year's best.

A shirtless Gambino performed the track backed by a live band and shrouded in red light. This has been a super year for Gambino (Donald Glover), who also has been nominated for (and won) numerous awards for his breakout, genre-bending hit FX series, Atlanta.

As for the performance, Gambino delivered, and while he hasn't announced a tour, the entire album would go over really well live-- in fact, it sounds as if he had that thought in mind while recording it.

Check out his performance above.
