In today's #blankstarenews, a 53-year-old New Orleans woman was memorialized with what some are calling a “last party” at her funeral this week. At the funeral, there was beer, menthol cigarettes and a disco ball. Miriam Marie “Mae-Mae” Burbank died on June 1.

According to her two daughters, Mae-Mae was “full of life” and they wanted her funeral to reflect that, so they told the funeral home directors at Charbonnet Funeral Home in New Orleans about their mother and together they came up with this party.

Mae-Mae was sitting at a table in a living room at the funeral holding a menthol cigarette and a glass of beer. It was reported that a crossword puzzle and Saints helmets were also on the table.

I know a lot of people are going to hate and call this ratchet, but more people should have funerals that show their personalities. Why remember someone other than they were when they were alive? R.I.P. Mae Mae
