All Month Long For Black Music Month Im posting the origins of Hip Hop's most popular songs. Hip Hop created the art of sampling basically taking something old and making it new. A lot of popular music of all genres includes sampling which originated with Hip Hop. Sampling has always been going on in music but with music being recorded and shared in the last century. Hip Hop actually created a whole new genre from taking old songs and remaking them into something else.

The Isley Brother In Brothers In Between The Sheets released in 1983 has to be one of the most popular samples ever

According to wikipedia :

All the instrumentation and composition was handled by Chris Jasper, Ernie Isley and younger brother Marvin. Some songs were initially devised as songs for a splinter project the trio were working on. Eventually, however, lead singer Ronald Isley sought interest in a few of the tracks, including the title song, which was composed by the trio of Jasper and the younger Isley brothers in response to Marvin Gaye's hit, "Sexual Healing".

Here are just a couple of songs that utilize In Between The Sheets

Notorious B.I.G. - Big Poppa

Gwen Stefani - Luxurious

Jim Jones - Summer With Miami
