BET Honoring Rakim at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards

The BET Hip Hop Awards will air on the network on September 29th. The show takes place at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. This year, they’ll be honoring a veteran who is widely known in the hip hop community as one of the dopest lyricists of all time – Rakim!

Rakim will be receiving the 2012 I Am Hip Hop Icon Award. Winners in year’s past include LL Cool J, Salt N Pepa, Ice Cube, Russell Simmons, KRS-One and Grandmaster flash.
