A certain “healthy” fast food option may cause more harm than good to your health. A recall is in effect for almost 300,000 apple slice packages that have been distributed to retailers and fast food chains like McDonalds and Burger King.

The packages affected are labeled with the use-by-dates of July 8, 2012 through August 20, 2012. The snack is said to be contaminated with a bacteria called “Listeria Monocytogenes”. It could cause fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea (ouch!).

If you have one of the recalled apple slice packages, contact Ready Pac Consumer Affairs at (800) 800-7822 – open M-F 8a-5p (Pacific Time) for a refund.
