Lawmakers are finally working on a proposal that will bring the very trendy Uber and Lyft to New York state.

The State Assembly is looking to change the state's automotive insurance rules enabling Uber and Lyft to operate in New York state.

Uber and Lyft are the fastest growing companies offering cheaper and faster transportation services.

Lawmakers do not believe that what happens in other states like Texas will happen here in Albany. Uber and Lyft left Austin recently due to voters making background checks mandatory.

Local leaders are realizing that Albany needs to do a much better job welcoming tourists to the area, specifically emphasizing tourist traffic to the convention center and casino that's under construction in Schenectady.
