Def Jam is the home of some of the biggest names in hip hop – Rihanna, Kanye, Young Jeezy and Fabolous just to name a few. They also have a great track record of taking unknown rappers and making them superstars straight out the gate like Big Sean, 2 Chainz and, most recently, Trinidad James. One artist who hasn’t seemed to pop since signing with the Hip Hop mega-label is Ace Hood. That’s why he’s taking his dog a pony show across the street.

During an interview with NYC’s The Breakfast Club, Ace announced he left Def Jam and is currently with DJ Khaled’s We The Best Music. The music group is an off-shoot of Birdman’s Cash Money Records. Ace didn’t fire any shots at his former label, though.

“I will always be forever grateful to Def Jam for supporting my career and being there. I’m definitely a lot more happy with the situation I got now, in all honesty, because I’m able to do me. There’s no pressure. Nobody’s calling me. Forcing an album on me or forcing this on me.”

Ace is currently working on his new album, Trials & Tribulations and has a new single blazing up the radio charts called “Bugatti” with Future and Rick Ross.
