Sad news in Albany yesterday as The Capital Region marked its first homicide of 2018 after a 35-year-old city man was shot dead in West Hill on Thursday afternoon.

Shots were fired at the intersection of First and Quail streets at about 2 p.m., Albany police spokesman Officer Steve Smith said.

When will this senseless violence end this is a terrible way to start off the new year. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of his family. No arrests have been made at this time.
