If you ever wanted the chance to learn how to swim for free, now’s your chance! Free swimming lessons are opening up at participating State Park locations. The swim programs last from 40 to 45 minutes and are open to all interested in learning how to swim. As a complimentary gift, swimmers will get a Red Cross Learn-to-Swim achievement booklet as well as a kit that will include a water bottle, t-shirt, and bag.

Not only is this an opportunity for adults to learn, but it’s especially beneficial to kids as Cuomo states. “The Learn-to-Swim program is a great way for kids to become acquainted with the water and have fun in the sun safely and responsibly. I encourage any New Yorker with eligible children to sign up for free lessons this summer,” said Governor Cuomo (News 10). Below is a list of state parks in the Capital Region that will be participating in this year’s free summer swimming lessons.

For all those interested, pre-registration is required. For more information on how to sign up for the Learn-to-Swim program, click here.
