August is turning out to be a busy month for new music releases. Last night (Aug. 1), 2 Chainz announced on Instagram that he's joining the party, with plans to release a mixtape on Friday called Daniel Son; Necklace Don.

2 Chainz announced the new project pretty creatively, via a text message with Drake, which he screenshot and posted on Instagram. Drake was, of course, rocking at the OVO Fest with Kanye West last night, but still wanted to know what was up with "that joint" he and 2 Chainz collabed on. 2 Chainz replied that he was awaiting a response from Apple but was about to drop Daniel Son; Necklace Don, which excited Drake because he gave him the praise emoji. At the end of the convo, one thing was clear-- 2 Chainz is dropping his mixtape via Apple Music on Friday.

This new mixtape will follow his last project, ColleGrove, a joint effort with Lil Wayne. Both Wayne and 2 Chainz are slated to appear at Weezy's second annual “Lil Weezyana Fest" in New Orleans later this month.  2 Chainz also showed up (along with the rest of the rap game) on Kanye West's "Champions" and also collaborated with Chance the Rapper on "No Problem"—he's set to appear with at the Magnificent Coloring Day festival with Chance in September. In other words, dude is super busy.

As for Daniel Son; Necklace Don, the mixtape will feature Drake (obviously) and Future among others. It drops on Apple Music this Friday.
